  • February reports claimed Rangers reached agreement for Jens Hjerto-Dahl, but no official update has followed.
  • Italian journalist Marco Conterio suggested a deal was close after Besiktas interest was edged aside.
  • Rangers still expected to strengthen midfield amid potential exits of Nico Raskin, Bailey Rice and Nedim Bajrami.

Rangers’ reported move for Jens Hjerto-Dahl remains one to watch heading into the summer, with interest in the Tromso midfielder still understood to be alive despite a lack of formal confirmation in recent months.

Italian journalist Marco Conterio first reported in February that Rangers had reached an agreement with Tromso for the highly-rated 20-year-old number six.

The writer suggesting a summer switch to Glasgow was close after competing interest from Besiktas was edged aside.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl from Tromso one step away from Glasgow Rangers,” Conterio posted at the time.

“After the back-and-forth and hesitations from Besiktas, the Scots ready to close the deal with a €1 million net salary for the lad

“Signature expected shortly.”

No update on Jens Hjerto-Dahl

While that report created significant noise around the player’s future, there has been no subsequent official update.

Sources close to Ibrox have not publicly confirmed that a deal has been finalised.

Nor has the journalist himself provided any update.

However, it is understood Rangers’ interest has not faded, with the club continuing to track midfield options as Danny Rohl reshapes his squad ahead of a demanding first full season in charge.

A significant midfield overhaul is expected this summer.

Bailey Rice is out of contract and likely to move on.

While Nico Raskin is anticipated to depart following Belgium’s World Cup campaign.

Nedim Bajrami is also expected to be allowed to leave after falling out of favour under Rohl, further increasing the need for reinforcements in central areas.

Hjerto-Dahl, regarded as one of Norway’s most promising young midfielders.

He fits the profile Rangers are targeting of technically composed, physically robust, still with significant development potential but also ready for first-team Premiership action.

Rohl’s recruitment strategy has leaned heavily towards younger, high-upside profiles.

Ones capable of stepping into the first team immediately while also offering long-term value.

The Norwegian midfielder remains consistent with that direction.

While the February reports suggested a deal was close, the situation now appears more fluid

Rangers are continuing to assess their options before committing to summer business.

For now, Hjerto-Dahl remains firmly on the radar, and very much a name to monitor as Rangers prepare for a significant midfield reset.
