St Mirren defeated Partick Thistle 1-0 at the SMISA Stadium this evening in the Scottish Premiership playoff final.

The Buddies won 2-1 on aggregate after a draw at Firhill late last week. Now their victory tonight has confirmed their place in the top tier next season.

Former Gers left back Declan John was part of the Saints side that staved off relegation. Although the Welsh defender missed the final with the Jags due to injury.

Rangers 2026/27 Scottish Premiership rivals

This means that Rangers opponents for next season’s Premiership are confirmed.

Rangers will face Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee, Dundee United, Falkirk, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St. Johnstone and St. Mirren next season.

Livingston have already been relegated in place of the Saints, who won the Championship title.

The Gers dropped two points to the Buddies last season and two to the Lions last year as they finished in third.

Ultimately falling ten points behind champions Celtic and eight behind runners-up Hearts.

Last time St. Johnstone were in the Premiership in 2024/25, Phillipe Clement’s Ibrox side secured three wins from three over them.’

Rangers first match will be on the weekend of August 1/2. With the Gers expected to kick off away from home.
