- Former Dundee United midfielder Jim Kerr criticises Rangers squad quality and right-wing options.
- Kerr calls for Danny Rohl’s dismissal after Old Firm defeat and poor run of results.
- Growing pressure builds on Rohl amid fan unrest and continued criticism from ex-players.
A former Dundee United midfielder who featured for the Terrors under legendary manager Jim McClean has been the latest within Scottish football to take a swipe at Rangers.
Danny Rohl’s side fell to a calamitous 3-1 defeat away to Celtic to end their own title hopes while massively boosting their rivals in tandem.
Rangers right flank was again shown up as the team’s weak link.
With James Tavernier given the run-around in his final Old Firm match.
Ahead of him was Oliver Antman, the Finn deployed from the start for the first time since November at Parkhead.
The 24-year-old was the fourth player to take up the right-wing position for Rohl in the previous four matches.
He was the latest on the merry-go-round of rotation.
Rangers have seen Djeidi Gassama, Thelo Aasgaard and Andreas Skov Olsen all given a go in recent fixtures on the wing.
Jim Kerr slams Rangers right wingers
Now, Jim Kerr, who featured for United alongside spells with Falkirk and Partick Thistle has taken aim at the Gers options.
“Wish I had been born forty years later than I was,” said the 67-year-old.
“I would be playing against Antman, Gassama and [Skov] Olsen instead of Mark Walters and Davie Cooper.”
His words emphasise the drop off within the current Ibrox side from the great, title-winning teams of the past.
Danny Rohl under increased pressure
He also had a swipe at current Gers boss Rohl.
The 37-year-old is under severe pressure following a third-successive Premiership defeat.
Defeats that have consigned Rangers to a third-place finish for the first time since 2018.
“Forget [the] end of season, sack this clown and that’s what he is tonight,” he said.
“Said a month or two into his appointment that he was never a Rangers manager in a million years.
“He is worse than Russell Martin in my opinion.
“Get him out tonight.”
The comments add to a growing chorus of criticism around Rangers, with frustration at both the squad’s perceived lack of quality on the right flank.
As well as at the broader direction of travel under the former Sheffield Wednesday boss.
Former Rangers’ stars Kevin Thomson, Andy Halliday and Derek Ferguson have all made comments on his suitability for the Ibrox hotseat in the past week.
Fan ire continues to grow, with calls for change being made despite a call from ex-Ibrox boss Alex McLeish to keep faith with the German.

For Kerr, the comparison with past Ibrox greats was as much a lament as it was a dig.
He framed the current options as a significant step down from the calibre of players who once defined Old Firm clashes.
His remarks about Rohl, meanwhile, underline the mounting pressure on the head coach.
His tenure is already being questioned after a damaging run of results that have ended Rangers’ title challenge and hopes of Champions League football.
With performances faltering and scrutiny intensifying, the mood around Ibrox continues to harden, and patience, both inside and outside the club, is clearly beginning to wear thin.
