22:05 — McInnes says he has boardroom backing as Ibrox rebuild continues
Derek McInnes says he has been given “a load of encouragement” from the Ibrox boardroom, telling the Rangers Review that recruitment staff Dan Purdy and Jim Gillespie are working closely with him as he shapes his squad before the Dundee United opener on 31 July. The comments come with Rangers still pushing to lower Bologna’s £17.2m Lewis Ferguson valuation and continuing talks over Nicolas Raskin and Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
17:45 — State of play: where Rangers’ summer business stands
Derek McInnes has already added five first-team faces this summer — Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur and Dan Neil — with early impact already showing in training ahead of the Scottish Premiership opener at Dundee United on 31 July.
Midfield remains the main focus: Rangers are in the hunt for Tromso’s Jens Hjerto-Dahl after an opening bid was rejected today, while a move for Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson would need to smash the Scottish transfer record, according to the Daily Record. Going the other way, Nicolas Raskin’s valuation keeps climbing amid Hull City, Real Betis, Bologna and Atalanta interest, and Lyon are among the clubs monitoring Youssef Chermiti.
Behind the scenes, the club has also confirmed academy loan moves for Kyle Glasgow and Max Cameron as part of its co-operation deals with Queen’s Park and Alloa Athletic.
16:30 — Bologna want record £17.2m+ for Lewis Ferguson, say Daily Record
The Daily Record report that Rangers have been told a deal for long-term target Lewis Ferguson would require a record Scottish Premiership transfer fee, with Bologna’s asking price put at a minimum of £17.2million plus add-ons.
Ferguson’s contract talks in Italy are said to have stalled since Vincenzo Italiano’s move to Besiktas, and there is also reported interest from Atalanta and Lazio. A swap deal involving Nicolas Raskin has been mooted, though nothing is close, following on from Barry Ferguson’s recent comments on the speculation.
14:10 — Rangers push Raskin asking price up towards £25m as interest grows
Rangers have reportedly increased their valuation of Nicolas Raskin towards the £25million mark as interest in the Belgium midfielder intensifies following his eye-catching World Cup form.
Hull City remain the only club to have tabled a concrete offer so far, understood to be in the £12m-£14m range and rejected as insufficient, while Real Betis, Bologna and Atalanta are also credited with interest in the post-World Cup transfer scramble for the midfielder.
11:40 — Tromso knock back Rangers’ opening £5.3m bid for Hjerto-Dahl
Rangers have seen an opening £5.3million offer for midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl turned down by Tromso, according to reports in Norway, with the Eliteserien club holding out for a fee closer to £7.5m-£8.5m.
Tromso’s sporting director is said to have told Rangers they remain some way short of the mark, though the Ibrox club are expected to return with an improved offer, continuing the valuation stand-off with Tromso that has been building for weeks.
09:15 — DONE DEAL: Kyle Glasgow and Max Cameron confirmed out on loan
Rangers have confirmed academy prospects Kyle Glasgow and Max Cameron have joined the club’s loan co-operation partners for the 2026-27 season, with both teenagers set for regular game time at Alloa Athletic after putting pen to paper on their first professional contracts at Ibrox.
The club has also renewed its loan co-operation agreement with Queen’s Park, the arrangement that lets Scottish-eligible prospects aged 16 to 21 move between Ibrox and partner clubs throughout the campaign to maximise first-team exposure.
